Gilbert L. Munoz passed away on January 8 in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Gilbert was born on November 13, 1967, in Ruidoso, New Mexico, to Gilbert R. Munoz and Gloria S. Munoz. He was raised in New Mexico and graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1987.
Following high school, Gilbert proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1987. Throughout his military service, he earned numerous decorations and honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Expert Marksmanship Badge (Rifle, M-16), and the Parachutist Badge. His military education included training as a Wire Systems Installer, APR Basic, and Airborne School. During Operation Desert Storm, Gilbert served in Saudi Arabia, demonstrating steadfast commitment in support of his fellow service members and mission objectives. He served his country with honor, dedication, and pride.
Outside of his military service, Gilbert embraced life fully and loved bringing people together. He was known for throwing the best parties, always finding an excuse to have a bounce house for family gatherings, and for making some truly unforgettable brisket. His generosity, humor, and love of celebration created memories that will be cherished for years to come. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and coin collecting.
Gilbert is survived by his parents, Gilbert R. and Gloria Munoz; his daughter, Jennifer Estrada and her husband, Marc; his son, Ryan Munoz; and his two beloved bonus children, Amy and Chris Allen. He was a proud grandfather to Carmen, Leo, and Aiden.
He is also survived by his brother, Steve Munoz, and his children, Milagro and McKensie; his brother, Orlando M. Munoz and his husband, Angel Rochel; his Uncle Leo Salas, and Aunt Lupe Salas; his cousin, Eddy Salas Arnett and wife, Amy, and their family, Aunt Cookie and family; along with many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Munoz, and Uncle Ben.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on January 24th at First Assembly Event Center in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Immediate family will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with visitors welcome from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Gilbert will be remembered for his service to his country, his deep love for his family, and his ability to turn any gathering into a celebration.
